Raja Ampat Liveaboard

Raja Ampat Liveaboard

Raja Ampat Liveaboard – With hundreds of islands off the West Papuan coast, Raja Ampat – the Coral Triangle boasts the highest marine biodiversity in the world and should be on every diver’s bucket list!

The underwater realm is a magical wonderland with healthy reefs bustling with colorful fish fleeing from hunting predators.

Due to its vast size, Raja Ampat is best explored by liveaboard. Our local Fleet consists of two budget-friendly, comfortable boats. Epica’s permanent home is in Raja Ampat, where she cruises among the Four Kings all year-round. The Jaya is more migratory in nature and moves seasonally between Komodo and Raja Ampat.

Scuba Republic’s professional crew has years of experience and is intimately familiar with the region and its quirks. During the trip, safety is always a priority when choosing dive sites and dive profiles. Before every dive, currents and conditions are checked to make sure the site is suitable for all divers. A comprehensive briefing on topography, currents and possible marine life encounters precedes all water activities.

As much as we enjoy crowded dive sites, we prefer the fishy variation. We try to avoid the rush hours and limit our dive groups to 4 guests per guide. Our liveaboards host a maximum of 14 guests.

Every staff member on our liveaboards is passionate about marine life and our environment. We are conscious of the impact we have on it and do our best to keep it to a minimum. We run our boats as eco-friendly as reality and budget allow and serve fresh, locally produced food within the limits of availability.

We are looking forward to taking you on an epic journey through the realm of the Four Kings!

Epica Liveaboard

A traditional fishing boat, completely refitted for diving with sustainably planted trees, the Epica is an open, breezy boat with two decks and a little sun deck on top of the captain’s cabin. With a length of 24m she may not be the biggest boat in the area, but definitely one of the faster ones!

The lower deck sits just above the ocean and contains 7 guest cabins with bunk beds. The doors slide open on the sides of the vessel. You may keep your doors open during the night to let in the cool sea breeze and wake up to the morning sun tickling your nose. Cabins are basic and without frills but are equipped with power sockets and fans for your convenience.

Two shared bathrooms provide freshwater showers, shampoo, and soap to keep up with basic hygiene.

Conveniently located at the stern on the lower deck is our dive prep area. Here we fill the tanks, set up equipment and get ready for our dive adventures. Often, we get to jump directly from the Epica onto the sites. Others may require us to take a quick trip in our tender.

The upper deck serves as a common area where you can lounge in a bean bag, take a nap in the hammock and browse through fish books. This is also where all our buffet style meals are served. A big table provides ample room to gather in the evening for a round of cards.

Epica cruises Raja Ampat all year round and offers different itineraries depending on the season and length of the cruise. They have one thing in common – they are designed to make the most of your experience in Raja Ampat when traveling on a budget!

Jaya Liveaboard

The Jaya is our expedition vessel. She moves seasonally between Komodo, Raja Ampat and long-range expeditions.

Built in 1999, she has sailed and ventured the waters of South East Asia with her faithful captain who has been running the boat since the beginning. Jaya is a very strong and capable boat designed to explore the fantastic world around us.

Jaya itself is designed from the keel up to appear as a Phinisi sailing schooner, using traditional methods that have served the Bugis people of South Sulawesi for centuries. This boat is completely hand built over the course of eighteen months and looks stunning with her six sails up.

The upper deck has plenty of shaded space for lounging, napping, eating or just enjoying the breath-taking scenery as it quietly passes by. It includes four small separate tables with round the edge seating so that you can spread out in the space in between dives. On the sun deck area, you find beanbags for your afternoon nap, sunbathing or for star gazing at night.

The dive deck is equipped with tank spaces around the edge while the centre provides room to store fins and masks, hanging space for wetsuits and freshwater containers for torches and cameras.

Below deck six cabins accommodate a total of 14 guests. The 4 twin bed shares and 2 triple bed shares are each equipped with an AC unit to keep you refreshed and power sockets for charging. Three shared bathrooms provide freshwater showers, shampoo and soap to keep up with basic hygiene.

The Jaya endeavours to hit all the top diving spots in each region to provide a schedule packed with phenomenal diving and breath-taking land visits!
