In June this year the Jaya will be running two 14 day trips departing Waisai, Raja Ampat to the Halmahera Sea.
Very exciting news as after the Jaya made her most recent expedition trip from Komodo to Raja Ampat last year in October we are planning new expedition trips around the Raja Ampat and Halmahera areas!
In June we are planning two 14 day trips on the Jaya around the Halmahera Sea in the north western part of West Papua. The expeditions give us a chance to explore an otherwise quiet and rarely visited area, discover new dive sites and evaluate possible routes for future dive trips.
The trips will include between 35 – 40 dives. Ferry tickets from Sorong to Waisai and return. All meals, drinking water, tea, coffee, towels and sheets are included, rental equipment is available for hire.
Not included in the price is the marine park ticket ( 1 million IDR, payable on board), soft drinks, beer and tips for crew.
These special trips are designed to keep costs low for the guests, so food will be locally sourced and for divemasters and above the dives are unguided. However, if you prefer to dive with a guide, the option is available for a small fee.
Otherwise buddy teams will be required to have their own SMB’s, compass, etc. and generally be self-sufficient. Dive briefings will be given and current checks carried out by dive guides.
If this part of the world has always been on your diving to do list then this is the year to do it! Your sense of adventure is a must on your packing list as there will be lots to explore in the great unknown.

There is on land accommodation in form of our Scuba Republic Beach Bungalow for before and after your liveaboard to break up your journey or to get some more dives in. If you are interested in the Birds of Paradise, trips can be organised as the sites are easily reachable from the resort.
